What clothes look best on short guys?
I wished there was a straight forward answer for me to give to you on what clothes look best on short guys. Unfortunately, there isn’t.
Why?
Here are a few reasons why:
- It depends on your style
- It depends on where you live
- It depends on your body type
- It depends on your age
- It depends on your color of your skin tone
Having said that, there are a few ground rules that you can follow to find the best clothes that fit you. Using these rules, you will find the clothes that will fit you the best.
So… What clothes look best on short guys?
1. Shirt Fit
There are a few rules to follow.
Rule one: Shorter men need to select shirts that fit their body. Fitted clothing allows you not to look like you’re a little kid wearing adult clothes. Dressed in a size or two too large can kill your style.
Shirts are meant to be worn as close to the body.
You can go with the cotton shirt. The reason I love cotton shirt is because it’s just so comfortable. I just LOVEEEEEEE it.
Styles:
- You can’t go wrong with vertical stripes
- Try picking minimalistic printed designs
- Plain colors are the best
2. Jacket fit
The key to a good jacket fit for a shorter man is to pick a shorter jacket.
Shorter men should ALWAYS avoid longer jacket. Remember our rule of looking taller? It’s all about the LEGS. Shorter jackets can give the appearance of longer legs. You just need to avoid standing beside someone who’s way taller than you of course.
Pinstripes and chalk stripes can also be your friend. Patterns like those can help ‘lengthen’ the overall look of your body.
3. Pant Fit
Shorter men need to get pants with a half break or no break.

This means you need always hem your pants. Trust me, when you do this, you’ll look like a millionaire who has a stylist helping them dress.
Try going with pants that are slim fit. If you’re very thin, consider skinny fit pants. Skinny fit is FINE because most brands have their definition of skinny fit or slim fit.
4. Shoes Fit
Always wear shoes that fit your feet without being too large or too small. Never pick shoes that are one size too large for you just because it’s more comfortable. Chances are you’ll look like a clown because the proportion of your body will be off.
5. Accessories
Since we’re shorter, this means our accessories need to fit the proportion of our height too. This means you need to avoid
- Watches that are too big or clunky: Pick thinner watches like Daniel Wellington or Leonard & Church. Here’s an example from my DW watch.
- Long or standard width ties: Pick skinny ties.
